Generative Design Workflow
The workflow of generative design can be divided into 7 steps:
A Design always starts with the Geometry Preparation. This step can be done either in a CAD program or directly in MSC Apex Generative Design.
In the next step Geometry & Boundary Conditions the prepared geometry is modified to contain the defined spaces of an optimisation model. Furthermore, the loads and fixations are applied to the model. This happens in the “Model Tab” of MSC Apex Generative Design.
Then the last step of the model preparation can take place. The boundary conditions are assigned to Events (load cases) and the optimisation parameters are defined. After the set-up is complete, the Optimisation can be carried out.
Once an optimisation is started you are directly transferred to the Post Processing in MSC Apex Generative Design and you can track the progress of your optimisation in a live view. The post processing gives information about the stresses, displacements and mass of each iteration.
After the optimisation is done and the result satisfies all the predefined goals an Intersection needs to be done in order for the part to be firstly ready for manufacturing and secondly used in a Reanalysis.
