Directly after using the Facet Body to NURBS Geometry tool which creates a CAD NURBS geometry from the optimisation result some NURBS patches can miss or other geometry faults can appear.
In this case the Facet Body to NURBS tool can executed once again with a smaller NURBS Face Size or the geometry can be repaired manually with the Geometry Cleanup and Filler Tools.
Step 1: Geometry Cleanup
By using the Geometry Cleanup Tool (Non-Genral Body Simplify) defect NURBS patches can be repaired automatically, if this isn’t possible the patches will be deleted. In most cases the retransitioned geometry will fall back to a surface. The missing surfaces are marked with red edges.
Step 2: Filler
With the Filler Tool the missing NURBS patches can be restored. Therefore, the automatic Filler Tool can be used. For more control the flash can be deactivated and the edges can be chosen manually. The preview helps to decide which edges belong together to create a reasonable NURBS patch.
Sometimes it is ueseful to delete adjacent patches with the Split Surface tool and to recreate them with the Filler tool.
When all patches are recreated the geometry will get the status Solid inside the model tree.
Step 3: Geometry Cleanup
Once again the Geometry Cleanup Tool can be used. Furthermore, a check for errors and find/fix minor geometry issues can be done.
To train the manual cleanup and NURBS patch fixing the above used STL-file and already retransitioned geometry (with faults) can be found here:
