A distinction between different Strut Densities can be made with the three settings "Dense", "Medium" and "Sparse". The settings influence the design of the optimization result.

The option “Dense” provides results in which a lot of small struts are being created or very thin shell structures.

While the option “Sparse” creates results with just a few thicker struts or also shell structures depending on the complexity set for this model. This result is often the most lightweight design of the three options.

In between the setting “Medium” can be chosen which is a compromise between the two extrema and is always a good starting option for a new optimization model. An example for the different settings is shown in the images.
