Design rules for Casting can be activated with the Advanced User Settings. Manufacturing specific settings can be made to create optimized results tailored for casting.

E.g. for two draw directions the following commands have to be added to the Advanced User Settings:

configuration.strategy=Casting

tool.tool0.draft=5
tool.tool0.direction.x=1
tool.tool0.direction.y=0
tool.tool0.direction.z=0

tool.tool1.draft=5
tool.tool1.direction.x=-1
tool.tool1.direction.y=0
tool.tool1.direction.z=0

The strategy setting initializes a casting optimisation.

The draft defines the tapering angle in degrees of the ribs / walls.

Each tool entry is a draw direction for the whole Design Space.

A second optional tool realizes an additional draw direction.

Each draw direction for casting is one tool entry. The actual draw direction is entered as a vector. At least one tool entry and with this one draw direction is desired. There is no maximum limit for tool entries but more draw directions will increase the calculation time.

Draft is the tapering angle for walls/ribs regarding the Draw Directions. Specified in degree.

Tips & Tricks

Influence the tool length for a speed up. A loss of surface quality (staircase effect) can be the trade off.

tool.tool0.lengthFactor=0.5

tool.tool1.lengthFactor=0.5

For each draw direction (tool) the length factor can be adjusted. The default is 1. By decreasing the value the optimisation will speed up. As a trade off the surface quality can be less smooth & the created pockets less defined / deep.
