The Clearance Region Tool supports the user to create void spaces to ensure enough distance between an optimisation result and other parts of an assembly. These other parts are part of the assembly but aren’t part of the optimisation and thus the generated Design. Especially when creating a Design Space with the Bounding Box method of the Design Space Tool void areas are needed to include other parts of the assembly in the conception of this Design Space. So the Tool is used to ensure enough distance between the Design and the existing assembly parts. To realize this an offset is created which represents the void space. Together with the part the void space needs to be subtracted from the Bounding Box Design Space.
