With Apex Generative Design Local Coordinate Systems can be created. This can be very helpful for applying loads which aren’t aligned in the direction of an axes of the global coordinate system. Local Coordinate systems can be attached to surfaces, edges and points. Furthermore, the orientation of the Local Coordinate System can be influenced by adding angles to rotate it.

In order to perform an optimisation, each direction should be fixed once for each local coordinate system. This is a sufficient condition to ensure that the optimisation can be performed without problems. Less fixations are possible, but can lead to problems especially during the reduction of fixations.
