By default, only functional surfaces (surfaces with a boundary condition applied to) grow beyond the Design Space limit to ensure a clean intersection and recreation of the functional surface.
Non-Design Space surfaces without a applied boundary condition can shrink a little bit to not exceed the Design Space limits.
With the Automatic Non-Design Growth activated all Non-Design surfaces (not only the ones with boundary conditions) on Design Space limits grow a little bit beyond their boundaries to ensure a trouble-free and clean intersection. This is done with an automatic detection of Non-Design faces.

Attention: The Automatic Non-Design Growth needs to be activated to use Retained Volumes.
