This is a composition from different material data sheets and only suggestions for material properties. MSC Apex Generative Design needs the Young's modulus, the Poisson ratio and the Density as an input.

Import database into MSC Apex Generative Design

All data can be automatically integrated into MSC Apex Generative Design by using a macro or a script.

Macro

With the macro the database can be imported manually by executing the macro e.g. with the hotkey ctrl+F1.

To use this macro for the first time, download the file above and save it in your workspace (or any other folder). To start this macro inside MSC Apex Generative Design, go to Macro → Play Macro. After the macro is played once the shortcut can be used.

Script

With the scripting capabilities of MSC Apex Generative Design it is furthermore possible to execute the Material Database script automatically with every new model.

In Options → Application Settings → Scripting & Customization a script can be set up for Post Model New. The Script Function Name has to be the same as in the script (in this case Material_database). Under Script File Name the script below has to be selected.

Once this is activated the script will be executed for every new model.

The material database script can be edited with every text editor, thus material properties can be changed or added.
