The workflow of generative design can be devided into 6 steps:
A Design always starts with the Geometry Preparation. This step can be done either in a CAD program or directly in MSC Apex Generative Design.
In the next step Geometry & Boundary Conditions the prepared geometry is modified to contain the defined spaces of an optimization model. Furthermore, the loads and fixations are applied to the model. This happens in the “Model Tab” of MSC Apex Generative Design.
Then the last step of the model preparation can take place. The boundary conditions are assigned to Events (load cases) and the optimization parameters are defined. After the set-up is complete, the Optimization can be carried out.
Once an optimization is started you are directly transferred to the Post Processing in MSC Apex Generative Design and you can track the progress of your optimization in a live view. The post processing gives information about the stresses, displacements and mass of each iteration. The intersection has been integrated in the optimization process and doesn’t need to be carried out manually. Every iteration is now available as an intersected file. The intersected model is used in the Reanalysis to verify the structure for the specified usage.
