Boundary conditions can be applied separately on cells or on several cells simultaneously. The selection causes different behaviours in the optimisation algorithm.

If a boundary condition is applied on multiple cells the amount and impact is evenly divided between the selected cells/Non-Design Spaces. The optimisation starts with this set up. However, if one of the Non-Design Spaces loses the connection to the overall structure, the applied boundary condition will transfer fully to the remaining Non-Design cell(s). If this behaviour is desired to reduce e.g. fixation points, the Keep Non-Design function has to be deactivated.
