A distinction between different Strut Densities can be made between with the three settings "Dense", "Medium" and "Sparse". The settings influnce influence the design of the optimization optimisation result.

The option “Dense” Denseprovides results in which a lot of small struts are being created or a very thin shell structurestructures.

While the option “Sparse” Sparsecreates results with just a few thicker struts or also shell structures depending on the complexity set for this model. This result is often the most lighweight lightweight design of the three options but since this is not the only relevant criteria different designs should be generated to utilize the fill capacity of generative design.

In between is the setting “Mdeium” Medium” can be chosen which is a compromise between the two extrema and is always a good start starting option to use for a new optimisation model. An example for the different settings is shown in the pictures below. Figure 1: Sparse
