The following example shows how to adjust/create missing patches or other geometry faults that might occur.

Step 1: Geometry Cleanup

By using the Geometry Cleanup Tool (Non-Genral Body Simplify) defect NURBS patches can be repaired automatically. If the tool isn’t able to repair these patches, they will be deleted. In most cases the retransitioned geometry will fall back to a surface because there isn’t a closed geometry. The missing surfaces are marked with red edges.

Step 2: Filler

With the Filler Tool the missing NURBS patches can be restored. Therefore, the automatic Filler Tool can be used. For more control the flash can be deactivated and the edges can be chosen manually. The preview helps to decide which edges belong together to create a reasonable NURBS patch.

...

To adjust the geometry of edges, the Vertex/Edge Drag Tool can be used to realize smoother edges and therefore better connections between the NURBS patches.

Step 3: Geometry Cleanup

Once again the Geometry Cleanup Tool can be used. Furthermore, a check for errors and find/fix minor geometry issues can be done.

To train the manual cleanup and NURBS patch fixing the above used STL-file and already retransitioned geometry (with faults) can be found here:
